Tooth Extractions
Safe and Comfortable Tooth Extractions
You may have experienced a tooth extraction procedure when you got your wisdom teeth removed. If you’re not familiar with the procedure process, know that it is a low-risk procedure that is relatively painless. The recovery process after a tooth extraction is usually simple.
Flatirons Family Dental & Orthodontics is able to perform some tooth extractions, but we may want to refer you out to an oral surgeon depending on your specific case.
The Recovery Process
After the procedure is completed, your dentist will send you home with detailed instructions to teach you how to properly care for the extraction site in the hours and days following tooth removal. Some patients will have to cover the tooth extraction site with gauze.
In some cases, the dentist or oral surgeon might prescribe medicine to give some relief in the days following the procedure. As long as the site is kept clean, the gums should fully heal in just a few weeks. After they are healed, you might be interested in replacing the missing tooth with an implant, bridge, and denture.
